She walks into the classroom looking around intently examining the new room she will be in for the next month. Her nerves have set in. She wants to make the right impression, and have a successful first day. She takes a deep breath and smiles thinking it’s going to be great day.

Long term substitute Emily Jacobson has supervised the in school suspension, aided in a couple classes to watch kids behaviors before getting a long term subbing job for a teacher who has resigned. She will also be helping out with some of the summer school classes.

“For the rest of the year I will be subbing,” Jacobson said. “We don’t know about Next year though. Hopefully, I will be though.”

Jacobson just graduated in December with a degree in business education from the University of Mary.

“The classes I’m taking over for now relate to my degree and everything I studied for,” Jacobson said.

Jacobson definitely wants a career in teaching. She loves helping kids, and helping with anything they may need.

“Teaching is my long term goal, and my hope is to teach high school,” Jacobson said. “I would be open to teaching any class.”
